Reading and Un-homework
Please have your student read for 20 minutes, at least four times weekly and sign the reading log each night. Also, your student will bring home Un-homework weekly on Mondays. We will celebrate our homework completion on Fridays.
Sight Words
Sight word knowledge is important in reading in second grade. Sight words are words we want students know without sounding out because these words are encountered frequently in print. Below you can find the Second Grade sight words.

Ideas to learn sight words:
-Find them in magazines and cut them out
-Write them in sidewalk chalk
-Spell them with magnetic letters
-Paint them
-Use shaving cream on the side of the bathtub and spell them
-Put them on post-it notes around your house
-Draw sight words on your child's back and then have them guess the word
-Write a book (like our I See books) with different sight words
-Play Memory with the sight words
-Type them on the computer
-Make a power point presentation with words; Students read them as it goes by
